Hit-and-run car crash kills occupant on Colorado highway

Highways are the site of many dangerous car accidents, especially during the holidays. A number of accidents that occur on these highways cause a significant amount of injuries and deaths. A fatal car crash recently took place on a Colorado highway when an individual was stuck and killed by a hit-and-run motorist. The crash is still being investigated.

In the middle of the night, a group of people were traveling the highway when the vehicle they were riding in crashed and flipped over. The occupants exited the vehicle and apparently went closer to the road to signal other motorists for assistance. A driver ended up hitting one of the occupants and took off from the scene. The person that was hit tragically died from his injuries.

Authorities still have not located the driver of the hit-and-run vehicle. The car has been described as having the similarities of a Dodge Intrepid or Stratus. It is not known what color the vehicle was, but it most likely has a significant amount of damage to its windshield as well as damage to the front driver's side. The fatality in this incident was a 33-year-old male.

A car crash that results in death is distressing for loved ones. It can be even more distressing when the party responsible for the death has not been brought to justice. Colorado authorities take hit-and-run incidents seriously and generally pursue these matters to the fullest extent of the law. If the driver is apprehended, surviving family members may have the option to file a civil lawsuit on behalf of the deceased.
