Colorado car accident claims 1 life, was driver negligent?

| May 12, 2013 | Uncategorized |

There are so many variables on the roadways that drivers must constantly pay attention to the road and be sure that they are following the law. Even a small distraction can cause a devastating car accident. Whether driver distraction was the cause of one recent accident may be on the minds of Colorado State Patrol officials.

The recent accident happened when a passenger car collided with another vehicle. The details of the second vehicle were not disclosed immediately following the accident. The first vehicle reportedly struck the second as it sat stationary and unattended.

The driver of the moving vehicle was injured in the crash and was taken to a local hospital. The exact nature and extent of these injuries has not been disclosed. Unfortunately, the passenger in that car was killed as a result of the collision. Authorities have not released the identities of those involved. They also are not providing details on what factors may have contributed to the crash.

As the investigation moves forward, authorities will likely seek to determine whether the driver of the moving car was negligent or reckless in anyway contributing to the car accident. As this unfolds, the family of the deceased victim may begin to explore their options under Colorado’s personal injury laws. Under these laws, the family of someone killed due to the negligence of another party may seek damages against that party in the form of a civil claim. Successfully litigated claims can provide families with compensation for their loss, pain and suffering, funeral expenses, lost wages and any other expenses that they incur due to their loss.
