Car accident kills passenger in at-fault vehicle

A three-vehicle accident recently occurred, which ended in a fatality. A 73-year-old man was killed, and it's not known if anyone else was injured. Colorado authorities are still investigating the car accident. The accident happened on a recent Sunday afternoon along a highway. According to reports, the driver of a Toyota sedan was initially traveling in the southbound direction. The driver reportedly veered into the northbound direction and crashed into a semi-truck. After the initial impact, a third driver slammed into the rear of the Toyota. The crash caused the semi to careen off the road and into a ditch.Sadly, a male occupant in the Toyota sedan died from his crash injuries. Authorities believe that a medical episode may have been a contributing factor. The road was shut down while authorities continued to investigate. The condition of others involved in the crash has not been reported.A car accident is, by far, a devastating moment for victims who are injured. Surviving family members are prone to even more devastation when they learn that their loved one is deceased. It's not known if any citations were issued in this case; however, the family of the deceased victim may wish to pursue a wrongful death claim against the responsible driver for justice. The civil court system in Colorado may award the plaintiff's damages in an amount deemed appropriate if evidence presented is to the satisfaction of the court. This may result in much-needed financial relief as they cope with their sudden loss. Source: 9news.com, "1 killed in crash in Fairplay", Kelly Sommariva, June 15, 2014

Colorado teen dies in deadly single car crash

Recently, a middle-of-the-night drive turned into tragedy for a group of teenagers. A fatal car crash claimed the life of a 14-year-old boy and seriously injured other teens who were riding in the vehicle. Colorado authorities indicate that a 16-year-old driver may have lost control of the vehicle.Reports indicate that a teen driver may have been operating at an excessive rate of speed when he failed to successfully navigate around a corner. The vehicle reportedly spun before slamming into a parked van. When medical crews arrived at the scene, the teens were pinned in the vehicle and had to be extricated. One of the teens was flown to a children's medical facility for treatment while two others were transported to different hospitals.Tragically, one of the teens perished at the scene. Authorities believe that the driver may have been going up to 80 mph at the time of the accident. It is not yet known if the teen driver will face criminal charges in the incident.Sadly, the negligent acts of a driver can lead to injuries and death for others who are passengers in a vehicle. Although there were no other vehicles involved, this car crash is still devastating to the deceased's family and the teens who suffered injuries. The family of the deceased teen may wish to file a wrongful death claim against the teen and any separate owner of the vehicle. The injured teens and their parents may also have similar rights under the law in a Colorado civil courtroom.Source: thedenverchannel.com, "Teen killed in crash in Fort Lupton early Tuesday morning; 3 other teens hurt", Anica Padilla, June 3, 2014

Colorado car accident kills 1, injures 2 others

Fog may have been a contributing factor in a recent crash that happened in the Denver area. The car accident killed one person and caused injuries to two others. Colorado authorities stated that the two-vehicle accident was caused when one of the drivers veered into an oncoming lane of traffic. The accident took place on a recent Wednesday morning, close to the airport. An initial investigation revealed that the driver of a Lexus and the driver of a Dodge truck were traveling in opposite directions at the time. The driver of the Lexus, for unknown reasons, crossed over and crashed into the pickup truck in a head-on collision. Reportedly, the driver of the pickup only suffered minor injuries and took himself to a medical facility. An occupant suffered injuries that were not life-threatening and was taken to the hospital for treatment. Sadly, the driver of the Lexus was pronounced dead at the crash site. Authorities are investigating the crash to determine if fog and visibility issues were contributing factors in the crash.Fortunately, the driver of the pickup was not seriously injured in the car accident. However, an occupant suffered injuries that may cause pain and suffering and lost wages. Even though the driver of the Lexus has passed away, the passenger may still have a legal remedy to obtain justice. The passenger may file a personal injury claim against the estate of the deceased driver in an effort to recoup financial damages sustained. If evidence of negligence is provided to the satisfaction of a Colorado civil courtroom, monetary damages may be awarded.Source: kdvr.com, "One killed, one hospitalized after head-on crash in Commerce City", Chuck Hickey, June 4, 2014
