Colorado interstate car accident kills pedestrian

Approximately three times a month, a pedestrian in Colorado is killed by a hit-and-run driver. Five people have died in hit and run accidents in Denver this year so far. An individual was killed after being hit by two vehicles. Colorado authorities are still investigating the car accident. The accident happened on a recent Sunday morning on the interstate. According to reports, the individual, who was believed to be a pedestrian, was struck by a vehicle in the early morning hours. After the initial impact, another vehicle hit the same pedestrian. The first vehicle reportedly fled the scene while the driver of the second vehicle remained.Upon a preliminary investigation, authorities were unable to obtain a description of the driver or the vehicle he or she was driving. The northbound direction of the interstate was shut down for over three hours following the incident. Authorities are asking for the public's help in locating the driver who fled the scene or providing additional information about the accident.

A car accident is a common occurrence that happens more frequently in busy areas. Tragically, fatal hit-and-run accidents are also becoming more of a common occurrence. If located, the hit-and-run driver may be criminally charged and face civil responsibility. The family of the deceased pedestrian may have the right to pursue a wrongful death claim against the hit-and-run driver. The civil court system in Colorado may award damages if evidence demonstrates that the driver operated in a negligent manner that caused the accident resulting in death.
