Colorado bicycle rider killed in car accident

Riding on a bike can be a risky venture in some situations. This is especially true if a bicyclist is involved in a car accident. Since bikes do not offer much protection against a vehicle, a person can sustain a significant amount of injuries and even death. A recent accident killed a bicyclist on a Colorado highway and the driver reportedly fled the scene.According to reports, an accident took place on Saturday afternoon. Upon a preliminary investigation, authorities determined that the collision happened when a 46-year-old bicyclist was riding along the highway. At some point in time, the bicyclist was struck by a motorist that was traveling in the northbound direction. Authorities were contacted, but the driver had purportedly already fled the area by the time they arrived at the scene.Medical personnel transported the bicyclist to the hospital, but he later died. Officials are still on the hunt for the hit-and-run driver. The vehicle was described as being silver in color with a damaged windshield. The vehicle also has damage to the front-end.

A car accident is difficult for victims who are involved and their families who depend on them. It's even more difficult when a victim has lost his or her life due to someone else's actions. The hit-and-run driver may face criminal charges, if located, and may also face civil litigation in a Colorado courtroom. The family of the bicyclist may wish to pursue a wrongful death claim to recover damages from their loss and other out-of-pocket costs, such as funeral expenses. A successfully navigated claim in the civil court system may result in appropriate damages being awarded.
