Colorado fatal car accident: 2 vehicles, 1 driver dead, 1 injured

On Behalf of | Nov 8, 2013 | Uncategorized |

A deadly car crash closed a highway for several hours and left one person dead recently, according to local law enforcement. Colorado police have almost no information about the cause of this fatal car accident at the time of this writing, but the investigation is ongoing. No charges have been filed in connection with this case so far.

It has been confirmed that two vehicles were involved in the crash, which took place on Highway 160 near Alamosa on Nov. 2. The collision was severe enough that both the police investigation and the associated accident clean up were extensive. Arriving medical personnel declared one driver dead at the scene.

The other driver was rushed to a local hospital with injuries of indeterminate severity. The identities of both drivers have been kept under wraps, likely pending the notification of next-of-kin. Police have not speculated whether alcohol or speed were factors in this crash, but the investigation will likely include routine toxicology tests to rule out the possibility of intoxication on the part of one or both drivers involved.

There is far too little information available as of this writing to get an accurate picture of how the fatal car accident took place and who might be deemed culpable for its tragic results. As the Colorado police investigation progresses, more information will hopefully be brought to light. Should the deceased driver be found responsible for the accident, the injured party will be entitled to file a personal injury suit against the driver’s estate. If, however, the evidence suggests the injured driver is culpable, the deceased’s next-of-kin may elect to pursue a wrongful death suit.
