Colorado car accident leaves 1 in critical condition

On Behalf of | Nov 13, 2013 | Uncategorized |

Colorado drivers likely know the consequences of running a red light. If a driver is caught doing it, he or she can be penalized with a hefty fine. If a car accident is caused as a result of running a red light, an individual can likely have more serious consequences than a fine. This appears to have just been the case in a recent Colorado accident, after witnesses say a man was involved in a car accident as the result of running a red light. The car accident involved the vehicle of a 33-year-old man accompanied by his 25-year-old passenger and the vehicle of a 17-year-old boy. The 33-year-old’s vehicle was said to have been driving southbound and was claimed to have been making a left-turn when it was hit by the 17-year old, who was driving northbound. Witnesses who stayed at the scene of the accident to assist with details of the crash said the 17-year-old caused the car accident as the result of running a red light. The 25-year-old passenger suffered catastrophic injuries and had to be rushed to a nearby trauma center. Her driver was also taken by ambulance to a different hospital where he was treated for his injuries. The 17-year-old driver suffered no injuries as a result of this car accident.

Hearing about victims injured in a car accident as the result of a possible failure to yield at a stop light is sad, because it could have been prevented. These victims may benefit from knowing they do have legal options. They can file a claim in the Colorado judicial system for financial restitution, should the driver be found at fault for this accident. The restitution they could possibly receive, should the case be successfully litigated, could ease the financial burden that victims are left facing after the result of an unexpected car accident.
