Colorado pedestrian injured in car accident

A pedestrian is not guarded with any type of protection when faced with a vehicle. Being in a pedestrian accident is typically more dangerous than a car accident. This is true with this case when a Colorado pedestrian was struck by a car and the driver allegedly took off.Authorities responded to the scene of an accident that occurred late Saturday night. Reportedly, a pedestrian was walking to an unknown destination when he was attempting to cross the street. While he was crossing, a vehicle allegedly struck the pedestrian and never tried to render assistance. The driver of a large SUV fled the scene after the impact. The pedestrian was discovered by a passerby who alerted officers. The Good Samaritan, however, did not witness the crash. The vehicle was described to be Suburban-type that was a maroon or brown color. It is not clear if that was in fact the vehicle involved in the incident, but it was spotted leaving the area. The pedestrian was taken to the hospital for medical treatment and is likely to be okay.

Depending on the outcome of this investigation, and if found, the driver in the hit-and-run may face not only criminal charges, but civil litigation as well. The exact details of the victim's condition has not been released, but he is likely experiencing pain and suffering related to his injuries. The victim may be entitled to pursue a personal injury claim against the driver for physical, mental and financial burdens caused by the car accident. A Colorado court may award monetary damages to the victim if the driver is proven to be negligent.
