School staff may be in mourning of an instructor that was involved in a tragic accident. The Colorado woman was a staff member at UCCS where she taught students about language and culture. She was reportedly struck and killed while she was walking across the street. No arrest has been made in relation to this car crash.

Authorities arrived on scene and conducted a preliminary investigation. Investigators believe that the events unfolded after the woman had just struck a deer. She got out of her vehicle to talk with another driver and check on the animal. She proceeded to go back to her vehicle and on her way back, a 67-year-old driver of a jeep crashed right into her. The driver of the jeep was not injured.

The woman, who is also a wife and beloved staff member, was declared dead at the scene. She was described as having a passion for educating students and was also dedicated to her work at the school radio station. Authorities do not believe that the driver was under the influence of alcohol or any narcotics.

It is not clear who the actual responsible party is to this unfortunate incident. If the driver of the jeep is deemed to be responsible for the car crash, he may be held liable for civil damages in Colorado, including a potential wrongful death lawsuit filed by surviving family members on behalf of the deceased. The driver may also face other financial burdens associated with the incident, such as funeral expenses and other monetary damages permissible under our state laws.
