A number of motorists would not suspect that a rear-end collision could cause an explosion. A rare car accident occurred in Colorado when a car caught on fire, then exploded after being rear-ended by another vehicle. The driver of the other car was arrested and charged with driving under the influence.According to authorities, the accident reportedly occurred along the highway on Wednesday when a car crashed into another vehicle from the back. After the impact, the vehicle that was rear-ended erupted into a blaze. Emergency and fire crews arrived on scene to put out the blaze. An explosion took place not too long after fire crews put out the fire. The explosions didn’t stop there, another explosion happened shortly afterward.The driver of the rear-ended vehicle sustained back injuries from the crash. The explosion caused debris to fly from the car. Authorities determined that the cause of the explosion was from oxygen canisters that were located in the trunk. Emergency crews were not injured in the incident, however, the fire truck was damaged.
A car accident can cause physical and emotional damage to a victim. The victim may experience pain and suffering in relation to their injuries and may have to miss time from work in order to re-cooperate. The man may be entitled to file a personal injury claim in Colorado against the other driver to recover damages caused by the crash. The man may be awarded monetary damages if the other driver is proved to have been negligent in causing or contributing the accident and injuries that resulted.
