Colorado accident may result in wrongful death claims

One Colorado family may be investigating its rights under state laws after losing a loved one to a fatal motorcycle accident. In this recent accident, wrongful death claims may be a viable option for the victim's family. According to authorities, an accident occurred between a car and a motorcycle, and led to serious injuries to the motorcyclist. Colorado State Patrol states that the motorcyclist was traveling eastbound through an intersection when a car turned off a side road in front of the motorcycle.
The motorcyclist could not avoid the car, and was severely injured upon impact. The motorcyclist was identified as a 37-year-old Colorado Springs resident who worked at Schriever Air Force Base. He was transported to the hospital, but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter. Authorities state that he was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

The driver of the car was identified as a 20-year-old man. Authorities believe that the driver of the car failed to yield the right-of-way as he turned left and are considering this negligence a factor in the cause of the crash. Charges have not yet been filed as authorities are continuing their investigation.

In accident cases where negligence or recklessness are factors in causing injuries or death, the victims and their families often can seek damages for their losses. In this case, the family of the man killed may seek damages for the loss of their loved one, lost wages, pain and suffering or any other expenses incurred as a result of the accident. Successfully litigated wrongful death claims can provide a victim's family with the financial security that they need to move beyond their grief and focus on the future.
