Colorado car accident kills 2, initial details scarce

On Behalf of | May 28, 2013 | Uncategorized |

Four vehicles were involved in an accident that ended tragically recently, but Colorado officials are still searching for answers. According to them, two men who were occupants of the same vehicle were killed the car accident, and three other vehicles sustained damage. Reports do not indicate how the three other vehicles were involved in the accident.

The accident occurred on Interstate 70 at just about 9:30 p.m. So far, reports do not indicate what events or factors led to the collision. The two men who were killed were 25 and 31 years old. Both died from blunt force trauma. One man was fully ejected from the vehicle, the other was partially ejected.

Officials are working to determine whether either party was wearing a seat belt, or whether alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash. At this point, the information regarding the accident is limited. There can be no doubt that this accident has left the families of those killed reeling in disbelief. When the cause of a tragic car accident is unknown, it may be harder for surviving family members to move beyond their grief and look to the future.

Under Colorado’s personal injury laws, the family of anyone who is killed in a car accident due to the negligence or recklessness of another party may have options to seek reimbursement of financial losses sustained. Following a fatal accident, families typically have medical and/or funeral expenses, lost wages or other damages, which can have a detrimental effect. Successfully litigated wrongful death claims, however, can help alleviate financial worries and can provide compensation for these expenses and possibly other financial losses stemming from a fatal car accident. Though in this case, it is too early to tell who was at fault, it is never too soon following an accident to gain an understanding of one’s rights and responsibilities.
