When a loved one is lost in an auto accident, the family members left behind begin a long and often difficult grieving process. It can take a long time to accept such a loss, and adjusting to life without that family member can be a struggle. In cases in which the death was caused by a hit-and-run crash, the grieving process is often impeded by a sense of injustice. If and when the responsible party is found, many Colorado families choose to pursue a wrongful death suit against the driver. This may be the case for the family currently grieving the death of a 35-year-old man who was struck and killed while walking across a Denver street. Upon early investigation, police believe that the man was struck while crossing Colorado Boulevard in Denver in the early morning hours of a recent Tuesday. While there were no witnesses to the incident, other drivers soon stopped and attempted to assist the injured man. He was unable to survive the injuries sustained during the crash, and died at the scene.Police found a piece of a blue vehicle at the scene, and asked for help from the public in identifying the car and driver. Based upon tips received, they are confident that they have located the vehicle involved in the crash, and are currently working to identify the driver. Should they be successful, criminal charges are likely in the case.

As for the family of the man who lost his life while crossing the road, news of the developments in the case may come as a relief. Should police positively identify the driver who struck and killed their loved one, they have the right to move forward with a Colorado wrongful death suit against the responsible party. Doing so could lead to an award of damages, which could help them overcome the financial losses associated with this tragic death.
