Elderly woman hit by Colorado school bus

An elderly Colorado woman is recovering from a head trauma and other serious injuries after being hit by a school bus yesterday morning. Police do not believe that drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash, and police and prosecutors have reportedly not yet decided whether the driver will be criminally charged in connection with it.The bus accident took place just before 9:00 a.m. in Loveland, Colorado, which is about 60 miles north of Aurora. According to police reports, the 70-year-old woman was crossing a street when the school bus driver made a left turn onto that street. He apparently did not see the woman and crashed into her.The woman suffered a head trauma and other severe injuries in the crash. She was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital and placed in the intensive care unit. Her current status is not known.

There were no children on board the school bus when the accident took place. The bus driver had finished his morning duties and was returning to the school district's transportation center.

Although it is not yet clear whether the bus driver will be charged with any criminal offenses in connection with the accident, it is possible that the woman or her family will file a personal injury lawsuit against the driver or the school district that employs him and owns the bus. They may do so in order to recover medical expenses and other costs of the crash, and to account for the woman's unnecessary pain and suffering.
